Intec Automation, Inc. is an established (20+ years of business), small automation company based in Rochester, NH that specializes in the design and build of custom automation equipment. To support our continued growth, we are looking for an energetic individual to fill the role of Machine Design Engineer on our team.

The individual we are seeking must enjoy handling multiple projects, in different phases, at the same time. The company needs a hands-on, detailed individual that is self-motivated. JOB DESCRIPTION:

Design & support clean-sheet automation mechanisms and systems from concept through production. Key responsibilities include:

  • Understand Customer’s Requirements & Implement Proven Solutions that Meet Those Requirements.
  • Implement and Improve Upon Existing Design Solutions using SolidWorks.
  • Keep Designs Simple and Cost-Effective.
  • Support & Perform Design Reviews with Internal & External Customers.
  • Create Detailed Drawings of Fabricated Parts (Material Selection, Finishes, Quantity, Etc.).
  • Understand & Implement Appropriate Tolerances for Mechanisms & Machine Elements.
  • Create and Review Detailed Bill of Materials for Accuracy (Quantities, Part #’s, Etc.).
  • Alert Purchasing of Long-Lead Items.
  • Maintain Schedule Milestones.
  • Update and Revise Drawings as Required.
  • Monitor & Achieve Cost Targets Through Effective Design.
  • Provide Support to Operations During Build, Test, & Evaluation.
  • Stay Up to Date with Leading Edge Technology.
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement Efforts Across Entire Organization.
  • • 2+ Years Designing Automation Equipment Preferred.
  • 5+ Years Designing Capital Equipment with Appropriate Experience.
  • Knowledge of Commercial Components & Supporting Partners.
  • Knowledge of Properties of Materials.
  • Skilled in DFM & DFA Practices.
  • Experience with Project Management & Tracking Milestones.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, etc.).
  • Must be a Team Player.
  • Must have Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills.
  • Must be Responsible, Self-Driven, Self-Motivated, and Able to Work Independently.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Design
  • Equivalent Experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Stand, Walk, Push, Pull, Reach Overhead, Bend to Floor
  • Sit for Extended Periods of Time
  • May Occasionally Need to Lift Up to 50 Lbs.
  • Normal Visual Requirements for Reading Written Instructions and Computer Screens
  • Normal Hearing Requirements for Verbal Communications
  • Normal Manufacturing Environment with Occasional Exposure to Loud Noise
